6th Composition Prize
Winner: Ansgar Beste
The prizewinning work, «In the steppes of Sápmi» for (prepared) choir a cappella, has been premiered within the program of the LUCERNE FESTIVAL on 13 September 2015 by the SWR Vocal Ensemble Stuttgart under the direction of Marcus Creed.
Ansgar Beste, born 1981 in Malmö (Swe), exam in church music (1998), final degrees (2002-13) in “kapellmeister”, composition, piano, music theory and arts management. Composition teachers: Michael Obst (Weimar/Ger), Luca Francesconi (Malmö/Swe), Adriana Hölszky (Salzburg/Aut), Wolfgang Rihm (Karlsruhe/Ger), Hanspeter Kyburz (Berlin/Ger) and Beat Furrer (Graz/Aut). Ansgar Beste won several international composition prizes and scholarships. His music has been performed at festivals in Scandinavia, Central Europe, South America, and in New York.
